Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL for July 13, 2009

< Continued from page 2
Dorian is waiting for everyone to show up at her dinner party so she can smooth things over for Markko and Langston and hopefully for her, the begging she did will pay off. Of course Markko’s parents are the first to show up and Langston is worried that the evening will be a disaster. Dorian is sure there is nothing to worry about and she is very secure as she tells Langston, “No need to worry. See, I have on modest makeup, no fake nails and almost all my own hair.” Hmmm, that’s very comforting Dorian.

But as usual, Markko’s father has no patience for Dorian’s antics and uh-oh, he has looked her up on the Internet so now he knows ever more about her life. Just when it seems that no one is going to show up for her dinner party, all the invited guests are at the diner when Noelle finds out that they all turned down the invitation. She decided that she would go to the party and she shamed all of them into showing up because she reminded them that they were hurting Langston and Markko by staying away. Dorian was shocked and very grateful that they showed up but Markko’s father still doesn’t want to hang around. How has Markko’s mother lived with this man all her life? Markko decides he will not leave Dorian’s house with his father and by choosing Langston he is going to have more trouble from his father. I think Dorian should get a good P.I. on Ernesto’s tail because he has to have some major dirt in his closet.

I was just reading about a new gay storyline coming up which will involve Oliver Fish and Kyle. It has something to do with their days back in college as fraternity brothers.

This should be interesting since while on a date with Fish, Layla catches the waiter checking Fish out and Fish is very uncomfortable. Layla swears she can spot a gay man a mile away, but sorry Layla, not this time! Meanwhile, Kyle tells Cristian that fish will hurt Layla, but he doesn’t say why. Stay tuned!

See ya next week.

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

Catherine writes: “I hated to lose Marcy and Michael but I’m thrilled they got a baby in the deal. Todd is so beyond unredeemable. He is, and has been for a log time, reduced to a comic book style evil character, with no humanity. The show keeps inching further out on the ledge of absurdity, with plots that are ridiculous (Dorian, Rex, the plot lines), sickening (Stacy, Todd), and cliché (it's complicated). And now, Spencer Truman is back. Good God! I thought he'd never leave. Oh, I do enjoy the way Brody and Jessica relate and are drawn together, and Jessica and Viki's scenes have been excellent, but is it really likely Brody, fresh off shooting Rex and a breezy stint in St. Anne's, would be accepted onto the police force? Sure it is! Just as likely that John (and Antonio, when he was still here) could quit and rejoin the force every time the winds shifted. Ah, well. Just give Stacy her just desserts and I'll probably keep watching. Rex, someone get him off the dumb pills. I adore this character and the actor, but if he has sex with anything that moves every time he feels a little pain or confusion, then he deserves what he gets, sadly. Gigi deserves better (and she shouldn't have let Witch Stacy take over her life (make a note).”

Dear Catherine: I, too, was thrilled to learn that Marcie and Michael would finally have a baby of their own. It’s too bad we won’t get to see that wonderful occasion but we will be treated to all the other garbage you mentioned. As for Todd, I never have a shortage of negative comments about him because no matter how horrible he is, he always manages to go one step further the next time. I am allowing myself to be in denial about Spencer coming back. Yes, I know he’s coming, but as long as I don’t see his conniving, deceitful smirk I can delude myself for a while. LOL. Sure it is unrealistic that Brody would ever be accepted into the police department, but hey, you’re right, dumber things have happened. I think Brody and Jessica deserve a little happiness in their lives after what they have both been through so I’ll let myself think like Bo. As far as Rex goes, some people would say that you can’t blame him for being with someone else when Gigi did such a good job of kicking him to the curb, but as I have said before, doing it with her nasty little sister was totally unacceptable.

Judy writes: “Not only did Rex have icky sex with Stacy he had unprotected icky sex. You know what will happen next of course. All we can hope for is that nobody will believe Stacy when she starts spouting that she's pregnant. Do you think that can be possible? I don't know what the writers are doing to Clint. He's acting like a total idiot with Nora I think before their so called wedding takes place Bo is going to deck him.”

Dear Judy: I would like to think that we’ve seen enough of that old phony “I’m pregnant” bologna to last a lifetime, but once Stacy pulled off that stem cell switch, I think anything is possible and I put nothing past her. If she did want Rex to believe she was pregnant, she’d probably go to a fertility clinic and steal someone’s positive pregnancy results. Marcie’s positive results are probably hanging around somewhere at the hospital. Just kidding, but you never know. I’m hoping we don’t go down the pregnancy road at all.
