Special Anniversary Ideas

    The Fell in Love Date

    • Almost everyone remembers where and when they met their significant other, but it can be much more difficult to remember when you fell in love. If you remember where and when you fell in love with your significant other, recreate that moment as much as possible.

    Dream Date

    • Many couples discuss some things that they dream of doing together or places they want to go, but never get around to doing some of them. For example, you may have discussed taking a trip overseas or going skiing together. Arrange to do one of the plans you have always discussed doing, then surprise your significant other with clues instead of outright telling him what you are doing. It is a chance to do something new and exciting together as well as it being a distinct gift.

    Roses

    • Instead of doing the usual dozen or two dozen roses, buy an amount of roses that has significant meaning. For example, buy one rose for every year you have been together or one for every day you have been married. It adds a special touch and extra sentiment to an already beautiful present.

    Day in Bed

    • Send your significant other a handwritten invitation for a day together in bed. If you have children, plan for someone to watch them at their house for the day and, if possible, overnight. Rent movies to watch and plan for takeout for every meal. For an extra-special touch, cook one of the meals yourself. Also plan for a special bubble bath, set with candles and romantic music.

    Have an Anniversary Party

    • Instead of having a regular party, have an anniversary party tailored to the year you were married. For example, if you got married in the 1980s, have an 80s-themed party. It can be a change of pace from having a typical anniversary party and it will create a new set of interesting memories. While you can plan the party together as a couple, leave the gifts for each other secret until the exchange. Have the gifts also go along with the theme of the party. For example, if you have an 80s-themed party, exchange a toy or item that was popular during that time period.
