- 1). Open your word processing software. Click 'File' and then 'Page setup.' Click on the 'Paper' tab. Find the size of the paper you are working with by looking on the front of the vinyl paper packaging. Choose the coordinating size. Save the changes.
- 2). Create your custom sign. To import a photo or image select 'Insert' at the top of the menu bar, then click 'Pictures.' Choose an image. Click on the center of the image to move it around the page.
- 3). Select 'File' and then 'Print Preview.' Review your design as it will be printed to make sure you like the final project.
- 4). Check to make sure the corners of the paper are not bent and there is no warping in the sheet. Insert one sheet of the vinyl paper into your ink jet printer. Place the coated side up or down depending on your printer, so the ink will transfer to the coated side of the paper.
- 5). Print your sign onto the vinyl paper. Let the ink dry completely.
