- 1). Learn the basics of the game and the duties of a caddy. Find a golfer with whom you're familiar and offer to carry his clubs. Ask him questions while on the way to a new hole, and learn on your own so you'll be well versed in all aspects of the game.
- 2). Register with local resorts and clubs that offer caddy programs in your area. These programs often require a fee. Enroll with schools and companies that offer "learn-at-home" caddy courses if you are employed and don't have adequate time to enroll in a full-time program.
- 3). Work with a wide range of golfers to learn the styles of different players, and how to assist them during a round. Be friendly, and network with different golfers. This can help you get caddy jobs with them, and through them, as they refer your services to fellow golfers.
- 4). Get to know experienced caddies. Talk to them frequently and listen to their insight on how to succeed.
- 5). Play golf. Actually playing the game will hone your caddy skills and give you a more thorough knowledge and appreciation of the sport.
- 6). Be polite and courteous while dealing with golfers. Don't speak to them in a manner that will be seen as rude, and don't be late for work, as this may cost you future jobs.
