Summer.
A nostalgic time of year that can bring with it thoughts of lightning bugs, tents and all-day long kickball games...
or thoughts of dread at the amount of skin that will be exposed at the beach.
This is when we cast off long sleeves and pants for tanks and shorts to stay cool.
For some, it is an excuse to show off booties and six packs.
For others, it is reason enough to move to Antarctica.
The thought of showing skin can be so unbearable for some, that they would rather sweat their patooties off wearing long sleeves and pants.
Does that sound like you? Well, imagine confidently showing off your radiant, glowing skin head to toe..
Along with your colon, your skin is a HUGE waste removal system.
Hmmm...
puts a whole new perspective on a hug, does it not? Seriously though, your skin is your body's largest organ, with a variety of purposes, one of which is removing waste and toxins from the body.
Just like when the highway is backed up from an accident and the traffic spills over to the service roads, if one waste removal system is, ahem, "backed up", the work load gets shunted to another system.
Let me rephrase...
when the digestive system is totally overworked and undernourished, the skin takes on some of the work.
Now, just so I do not give any wrong ideas...
it is physiologically impossible to urinate or pass a bowel movement through your skin, so no worries there.
However, when the GI tract is taxed, more waste gets removed through the skin and can cause serious troubles! The most common being acne, but even rashes, eczema, psoriasis, discolorations and texture discrepancies can be caused by a poorly functioning colon.
This is something that I would LOVE to research further...
any volunteers? I struggle with less than perfect skin and have since my teenage years.
I have always been envious of those with porcelain doll-like skin.
It is only now that I wonder if those years of blemishes was an external sign of the havoc in my innards! Not sure I will ever be able to prove it, but it sounds plausible to me! I firmly believe that the skin is a mirror for what is going on internally.
If you struggle with skin issues, then maybe taking a look at your digestive system is in order before you reach for another miracle cream? Perhaps re-evaluate your relationship with dairy and gluten.
Maybe caffeine or artificial sugars is the culprit.
I have seen incredible changes not only in myself, but in clients as well, with simple, easy-to-implement dietary changes...
and no one has been deprived or restricted in any way.
If anything, the result is a feeling of empowerment! Obviously, this requires more effort than washing your face, and it is NOT a quick fix.
In fact, it is BETTER than a quick fix.
It is a PERMANENT FIX! Once you find out what is going on in your colon, you can control what goes in to your body and make adjustments so that once vied-for radiant, glowing skin can now be a reality! Now, for those immediate gratification junkies out there, I have something for you too! Even though you are down for delving into the health of your colon, the warm weather IS HERE...
so you have to bear skin NOW! This next practice will CHANGE YOUR LIFE! Skin brushing.
Believe it or not, hair is not the only thing needing a brush down.
Our skin sheds millions of dead cells every single day, along with eliminating toxins from our body.
The act of skin brushing helps to slough off those dead skin cells and toxic waste, revealing the radiant, glowing skin underneath.
Here's the deal:
Body scrubs are popular at spas and can run you well over $100...
this is a one-time "investment" of MAX $15 and you can do it every day.
This practice will even make that spa visit more effective! The spa products will meet healthier, fresher skin free from dead skins cells, so they will be able to get to work sooner and the effects will last even longer! I am just saving you money left and right! Who's the best health counselor EVER?! SO, scrub-a-dub-dub, do not have three men in your tub, although after a week of skin brushing, you just might have more than three peeps trying to get their hands on your hide!

Here's the deal:
- Buy a Skin Brush.
The long-handled brushes you thought were for scrubbing your back in the shower.
WRONG! They run between $5-$15.
The stiffer the bristles the BETTER.
If it detaches from the handle, BEST! - BEFORE you shower, dry brush your body for a few minutes.
Always brush towards the heart.
I like to start with my feet and move up, then do my arms.
I detach the handle for everything except my back.
Brush everywhere you can reach (not your lady and gentlemen parts...
) Feet, lower legs, upper legs, tushy, stomach, chest (not the sensitive parts), lower arms, upper arms, shoulders, back...
did I forget anything? - DO NOT BRUSH YOUR FACE! I know you want radiant, glowing skin on your face too, but the process of brushing the body will IMPROVE the skin on your face! Talk about a bargain!
- NEVER let your brush get wet.
You want to keep the bristles as stiff as possible, and water will soften them. - Your skin may turn white and you may see "dust" come off as you brush.
This is dead skin and toxins being brushed away.
Please be courteous and clean up your dead skin cells after brushing. - Jump...
well step carefully...
into the shower and proceed as normal.
Massage good moisturizer into the skin following your shower.
