Crunchy Granola This recipe for some crunchy granola is great for when you're on a trip, hiking, or just want a snack.
It's crunchy, filling, and very hearty as well as heart healthy.
Some of my friends take it with them when they're shopping so they don't binge and eat at the overpriced mall food courts.
I don't even tell them it's Gluten free, they never notice! Ingredients: 1/3 cup honey 1 cup crushed almonds 1 tsp Gluten free vanilla or almond flavoring 1/2 cup buckwheat flakes 1 1/2 cups rice flakes 1/4 cup sesame seeds 3/4 cup sweetened medium coconut 3/4 cup dried cranberries 3/4 cup sunflower seeds 1/3 cup sunflower oil 2/3 cup raisins 3/4 cup pumpkin seeds 1/4 flax seeds A dash of salt.
Directions: Preheat oven to 300°F.
So the first step is to grab a saucepan and combine the following ingredients: sunflower oil, Gluten free vanilla, (or almond flavoring) Honey, and your dash of salt.
Bring these ingredients to a boil.
While they are heating up get a large bowl and add all the remaining ingredients you want.
Keep in mind all of these ingredients are optional! You can add anything you want, which is part of the reason that this recipe is so amazing, you can personalize it for any occasion.
So add in all the ingredients you want - except the cranberries and raisins at this point.
This is because baking the cranberries and the raisins will result in them melting down and losing their texture and taste.
So like I was saying, add in all the ingredients that your heart desires.
For this recipe these ingredients should equal about 5 cups so that it will go together nicely with the ingredients that are boiling, and they will all stick together evenly.
After the honey mixture is boiled, take if off the pot and let cool slightly.
Put your dry ingredients into a 13x9 inch baking pan and Pour your honey mixture all over it.
Stir it to coat your mix with the gooey goodness.
After this you are ready to bake.
It takes less than half an hour in the oven.
