How to Compare Between Two Types of Diabetes

    • 1). Symptoms

Know the symptoms of diabetes type 1 and type 2. Symptoms that indicate either type of diabetes are: unusual thirst, extreme hunger combined with weight loss, frequent urination, and fatigue and irritability. Symptoms exclusive to type 2 are wounds that are slow to heal, blurred vision, recurrent infections, and tingling in feet and hands.

    • 2). Causes

Genetics is an important factor in the development of both types of diabetes. There are other unknown factors that trigger type 1 diabetes while lifestyle is an important component in type 2. A high caloric diet with significant weight gain is a significant factor in developing type 2 diabetes, especially if a family history is present.

    • 3). Risk Factors

Changing your lifestyle can make a difference. Although type 1 diabetes is primarily determined by genetics, there are ways of lowering your risk of developing type 2. Components such as age, sex, family history, and gender can increase your chances of developing the disease, but there are other factors that can be controlled. Maintaining a healthy weight, controlling blood pressure and cholesterol, eating a healthy diet, regular exercise, and stoping smoking might prevent on the onset of type 2 diabetes.

    • 4). Treatment

It is important to strictly follow the treatment plan prescribed by your doctor.

Because type 1 diabetics are no longer making insulin, they require daily insulin injections, along with a program that includes a healthy diet, exercise, and regular blood glucose monitoring.

Type 2 diabetes is a more complex disease but can be controlled by proper diet and exercise combined with oral medications. In some cases insulin is required.
