There are many entrepreneurial women who not only run a successful household but run a successful business from their home. Managing all aspects of business and home life can often be a challenge because of balancing many different tasks and activities. While it is difficult without children involved when a work at home woman brings a precious baby into the family the balancing act becomes even harder than before. Here are some things to think about when you are a work from home woman as well as a stay at home mom.
Baby First
As any woman knows a child is the most important thing and the well-being and love for your little one must always come before your business when you are a stay at home mom. An infant and a growing child need a great deal of attention and love as well as many diaper changes, feedings and naps. To be successful as a work at home mom it is important to put the needs of your baby first. Nobody expects you to give up your business but creating a schedule that focuses on the needs of the baby will make both your business and personal life easier. The schedule should specifically include the needs of your child and your business will work around that.
Management
Yes women can multi-task beyond anyone's wildest imagination but it is still important to only take on what is manageable throughout each day. Do only what is absolutely needed with your business during the first couple months until you can get into a system and be comfortable with that system to increase the workload throughout the day. To be successful as a business owner and mom you must start out with a manageable plan and build up from there. You must start small and learn to add more as you are comfortable with the situation.
Ask For Help
Like I said before, women can multi-task extremely well, but there is also a time when women must ask for help. Trust me you will understand once your child starts crawling and walking because you will constantly be running and never get a single thing accomplished. Ask for help from a family member or loved one throughout the day when it is important you complete your work tasks. Even if it is only for two to three hours per day it will allow you to completely concentrate on y our business while your child is on the walking rollercoaster throughout the day. This time will allow you to be completely focused on your business and when that time is up you can completely focus on your child giving them a great deal of attention.
Being a work from home mom is an amazing accomplishment and it will take time to get used to the changes that will occur. Managing your time and asking for help when needed will allow you to be as efficient as possible. First and foremost your child's needs should be a huge priority and creating a schedule around those needs will be the best for you and the child. Never forget that you are mom first, entrepreneur second.
