- 1). Keep the crown fully screwed down while wearing the watch. The crown is the small knob on the side of the watch. This should be tightened by screwing clockwise until it will screw no more.
- 2). Wind the watch. Take the watch off of your wrist. Turn the crown counterclockwise until you feel that it is loose and will unscrew no more. Turn the crown clockwise (just turning, without pressing it in) about 40 times. This will fully wind the watch. Once the watch has been wound, push the crown back in and screw in clockwise.
- 3). Set the time. Take the Rolex off of your wrist. Unscrew the crown counterclockwise. Pull the crown out as far back as it will go. Move the crown either clockwise or counterclockwise to set the time. If you have an Explorer II or GMT Master II, you can move just the hour hand by pulling the crown out to the first position (unscrew the crown, pull it out so that it clicks into place; do not pull farther into the last position) and twisting to set. Push the crown back in and screw in clockwise once the time is set.
- 1). Adjust the date on an Oyster Perpetual with date and quickset mode. Pull the crown out to the first position. Turn the crown clockwise to change the date on a woman's Oyster Perpetual. Turn the crown counterclockwise to change the date on a man's.
- 2). Set the day and date on a Day-Date Oyster Perpetual with no quickset feature. Turn the crown clockwise so that the hour hand moves past the 12 twice. Once you have done this, the crown will change the date dial. To change the day dial, move the hour hand past the 12 twice counterclockwise, then adjust the day accordingly.
- 3). Set the day on an Oyster Perpetual with single quickset mode. Pull the crown out to the first position and turn counterclockwise to set the date. To set the day, first pull the crown out to the last position, then turn counterclockwise until the hour hand passes the 12 twice. Moving the crown will then set the day dial.
- 4). Set the day and date on a Oyster Perpetual with double quickset mode. Pull the crown out to the first position. Turn clockwise to set the day, counterclockwise to set the date.
- 5). Set the date on a GMT Master with quickset, Yacht Master or Submariner with quickset. Pull the crown out to the first position. Turn the crown so that the hour hand passes the 12 twice, use the crown to change the date position.
- 1). Access the push buttons. Take the watch off of your wrist and unscrew the two push buttons located on either side of the crown by turning counterclockwise until they will turn no more.
- 2). Use the chronograph. Press the top push button to activate the chronograph. Press the top button again to stop the chronograph and once again to restart. Press the bottom push button to reset the chronograph to zero.
- 3). Read the chronograph. The small dial at the bottom of the watch displays seconds elapsed. The dial at the right measures total minutes and the dial at the left the hours.
