The most influential factors which affected the choices people made about food and health products were family, culture and friends.
Almost everybody responded saying that the people around them, aka family and friends, had a major impact on what they bought.
This shows that the people you associate with, significantly affect your food and health choices.
Books also have a significant impact on people's choices.
Almost everyone stated that the books they read had some impact on their personal food and health choices.
A bit surprisingly, magazines, which are generally ad-stuffed and highly targeted, did not have as much impact compared to books.
An interesting influential factor is the Internet.
Almost everyone who was surveyed had strong feelings about the internet; either the internet was a great influential factor, or not a factor at all.
This is probably because those who have access to the internet and go online regularly tend to gain a lot of their casual knowledge from this massive source of information, while those who do not know how to use the internet and do not go online are not affected in the least by the internet.
The least influential factor in people's lives, when it came to food and health choices, was the TV and street advertising.
Although the street advertising numbers are understandable, it is quite surprising that TV, supposedly a great influential factor, had little impact on the lives of the people I surveyed.
This is probably due the fact that my family (which includes more than 3/4 of the people I surveyed) does not watch TV.
All things considered, we come to the conclusion that the people around you are the biggest factor of influence in your food and health choices.
This makes it all-the-more-important that you surround yourself with people who have healthy eating habits.
