- 1). Combine salt and flour into a mixing bowl. Pour water slowly into the mixture and continue stirring. Add oil and stir until you reach a smooth consistency.
- 2). Add a few drops of food coloring into the mixture. To make tan, use variations of brown, orange, white and red. Continue stirring until the color is evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- 3). Remove a chunk of dough and shape into whatever form you wish. Avoid making thick objects because they will be more difficult to bake.
- 4). Place your newly crafted clay pieces onto a cookie sheet covered in wax paper. Set the oven to 250 degrees and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- 5). Remove from the heat and leave on the counter to cool. If you like, you can paint or decorate your tan clay pieces.
