- 1). Make a single loop in the cord. With your left thumb and pointer finger hold the bottom of the loop so it does not unravel.
- 2). Make a second loop over the top of the previous loop so that the two loops create a Venn diagram type image where two circles overlap (see Resources).
- 3). Weave the right end of the cord over the right edge of the right loop, under the right edge of the left loop, over the left edge of the right loop, and under the left edge of the left loop. Take the active end of the cord--the end you just finished weaving through the loops--and cross it over the fixed end.
- 4). Take the active, right end over the farthest right loop, under the two middle cords, and over the next middle cord.
- 5). Pull both ends of the cord apart slowly and gently. The knot will begin to form as the ends are gradually pulled tighter.
- 6). Flip the knot over and pull the ends tighter so that all the loops fit snugly into the knot and the knot is tight.
