The wedding cake.
One of the main focal points in every wedding.
Well weddings are all about love and what better color for love then red? Here are a few suggestions for cake decorations which are literally the icing of the cake.
1.
Take a piece of red marzipan and work with it as a mould.
Get it into a nice ball shape 2.
After that just form it and sculpt it into a heart.
Pinch the bottom and press and pinch until you get that nice heart shape.
Don't worry! This is much easier then you think.
Just give it a try.
Marzipan is great for all sorts of eatable wedding decorations.
It is actually an almond paste and tastes just delicious.
I know quite a few marzipan addicts who can't live without it.
Marzipan decorations can be pulled right of the cake, and can be eaten along with the cake.
Another great suggestion are fondant flowers.
Wikipedia defines Fondant "one of several kinds of icing-like substance used to decorate or sculpt pastries.
" It's a great material to play around with and get creative.
1.
So for the fondant flower you actually mould it into a ball shape again.
2.
Then roll it out with a trusty old wooden pastry roller (the wooden ones still are the best), to about a quarter of an inch thickness.
By the way, don't forget to use a little bit of flower, otherwise the fondant will get sticky.
3.
After that, take a little flower cutter and cut out a the flower shape.
4.
For the next step you will need a little pastry sculpture tool set set.
You can usually buy these at every local craft store.
Once you have the tools, start to give the fondant flower some curves and shape them to your liking.
Here is a tip.
Use a piece of foam underneath the fondant flower.
This makes shaping much easier.
5.
If you are happy with the shape put a little dot of icing in the middle of the flower.
DIY wedding cakes are something very personal and when it comes to ideas the sky is the limit.
