- A popular method of stress response training within the security industry is to have security officers take written tests explaining how they would deal with a variety of high stress situations. These high-stress situations are then reproduced in simulated training events strictly regulated by the instructor. Training security officers can then compare their written responses with their response under stress and attempt to bring theoretical and actual responses closer together.
- In the security environment, working with a partner enhances professionalism by lowering stress levels among security personnel. These stress levels become clearly evident when security personnel are required to deal with multiple individuals at once where their personal safety can feel threatened.
- Learning to trust instinctual responses to dangerous situations can be a difficult aspect of security training. If a security officer is placed in a situation which makes them feel uneasy and poses a threat to their overall professionalism, it is best to step away from the situation, if possible. This might mean rotating guard posts or calling local law enforcement for additional assistance if a situation warrants.
