- 1). Lay the black plastic pipe coil in the water. Fill the pipe with water. If it does not fill, maneuver it so that it will. If a garden hose is near, use it to fill the pipe if it doesn't fill by maneuvering it.
- 2). Place the plug insert into one end of the pipe once it's filled with water. The pipe doesn't have to be completely filled with water but you should be able to tell how full it is by the weight change. Secure the plug insert. Use a hose clamp and tighten it with a screwdriver.
- 3). Tie the poly rope around the cinder block or rock securely. Tie the other end of the rope 12 inches from the open end of the black pipe, leaving 2 to 3 feet of rope in between. Secure the rope in place on the pipe by wrapping it with a generous amount of black tape.
- 4). Drag the weight into the water allowing the pipe to be pulled in. The unplugged end should still be near the shore. Secure the rope to the shore so it doesn't fall in. If it isn't long enough, add more rope.
- 5). Pull the plugged end of the pipe to the dam area of the pond. Maneuver the pipe up and over the dam, keeping it as low to the ground as possible. Drag it so that it is at least four to six feet below which should be the bottom of the dam. If there is no dam, drag the pipe to the most shallow end of the pond and pull the plugged end at least four to six feet below.
- 6). Pull the plug out of the pipe and hold the pipe securely. It may gurgle but once the siphon begins it will be strong. Siphon out the desired amount of water. Remove the suction end of the pipe, the weight and rope once you're finished.
