Cat Aggression Behavior - How to Treat Cat Aggression Problems?

An aggressive cat can be very dangerous to other animals and the people in your household.
Not only are cat scratches and bites painful but they can become infected and leave permanent scars.
For smaller animals in the household, cat aggression behavior can cause permanent injury and even death.
To treat cats aggression, you must first know it's cause.
There are many reasons for cat aggression behavior.
They may be acting out of fear, a need to protect their territory or to protect their offspring (cat maternal aggression), because of over petting, or due to illness as well as a number of other situations.
A cat who learns that his aggressive tactics work will continue to use the behavior when the situation arises.
How To Control Your Cat's Aggressive Behavior Treating cat aggression behavior is going to be a long drawn out process.
It begins by ruling out any medical reason for the behavior.
A trip to your veterinary will help determine if there is some medical problem that may be causing the behavior.
Once your cat is given the all clear sign as to his health the next step is to learn the signs your cat gives off when he is about to become aggressive.
Turned down ears, the sudden dilation of his eyes, and rippling of the skin on his back are all signs that a cat may be getting ready to attack.
Also look for a cat going into a crouched position as though he is getting ready to pounce, the pulling in of his tail and hissing.
When you see any of these signs avoid being in close proximity of the cat and remove anything that the cat seems to be focusing on.
Keep a diary noting what seems to have agitated your cat.
Once you pinpoint the reason for your cat's behavior you can then begin working on correcting that behavior.
Once you know what is causing him to act aggressively, then you can research ways to deal with that specific problem or seek professional advice on how to help your cat overcome his cat aggression behavior.
