- Brandy is a customary after-dinner treat in Spain, and Osborne, Gonzalez Byas and Domecq are brand-name brandies often enjoyed. While brandies can be light or dark, lighter colors typically have a smoother body and are often preferred by women. Pacharin is a dark liquor made from soaking berries and coffee-bean pods in Anisette. The taste is extremely heavy.
- Spanish anis is a liquor flavored with anise, a flowering plant indigenous to the Mediterranean and other regions of the world. Liquor flavored with this plant has a strong licorice taste and is an acquired taste.
- Moscatell is a Spanish liquor with a color varying from yellowish to amber and an alcohol content ranging from 15 to 20 percent. It has floral or fruity overtones similar to wines, making it a prized dessert liquor. Moscatell is produced in Andalusia, the Valencian Community, Navarre, Aragón and Catalonia. Moscatell should not be confused with Muscatell, which is made with berries.
- Liquor made with lemons and oranges are often part of a meal in Spain. Crema de Limon, Licor de Limon, Zoco Pacharan Navarro and the traditional Ponche Caballeroare are examples. These liquors often contain local herbs, plums and cinnamon to complete their flavor notes. Their alcohol content ranges from 20 to 40 percent.
