- 1). Pour tepid water into a bowl. Fill the bowl halfway up.
- 2). Soak the seed in the bowl for one or two days.
- 3). File the seeds very carefully with fine sandpaper. The seeds will have a black coating on them, that black coating needs to be filed to ensure water will be able to penetrate the seed.
- 4). Pour some potting soil into a pot and place the seeds in the soil.
- 5). Keep the pot inside until seeds begin to sprout.
- 6). Transplant the flowers into the ground. Do this in the spring and when there is no threat of frost. The Canna lily will sprout in about two weeks.
