- Energy Star-approved products include range hoods and inline bathroom and utility room fans, including fans that are ducted or direct-discharge. They must fulfill all requirements, including those relating to light, sound, working speed and power consumption.
- Energy Star has established eligibility criteria for HVAC units, specifying the quality of the unit's parts, noise levels, efficiency, power consumption and overall capacities. Each aspect of the unit must pass inspection for the product as a whole to qualify.
- Certified products have been tested by EPA-approved organizations like HVI or AMCA; this includes participating in ongoing testing. Approved products bear the Energy Star label.
