- 1). Turn on the swimming pool lights. Light attracts bugs because it provides them with warmth and ultraviolet energy.
- 2). Gather the bugs that gather around the swimming pool lights with a long-handled dip net.
- 3). Apply pyrethrin spray to kill the bugs you catch and discard them away from the swimming pool. Most water bugs die quickly without water anyway, but the insecticide spray makes them easier to handle.
