- The party marketplace is saturated with novelty gag gifts for the over-the-hill crowd. There are specific items for over 40 through 100 years and counting. A great idea is to purchase or make a gift basket with items relating to the year the person was born. A CD with music from that particular year, a trivia pamphlet stating current events from that time, retro candy and a video of that years' top movie are a few suggestions of items to include in the basket. These are nostalgic items that most people would find interesting.
- Create an official Oldie of the Year, or 60th Birthday Survivor certificate framed and ready to hang. Microsoft Word has certificate templates already installed, or can be downloaded for free from their site. Some are quite colorful and elaborate and would make attractive wall décor while acting as a humorous conversation piece. Just type the person's name and desired phrases into the certificate, print out and insert into a nice frame.
- They have mugs and hats with sayings written on them for anything you can think of including witticisms for the 60 and over crowd. A colorful mug that says, How the *@#$% did I get to be 60, would be a funny and useful gag gift, or a hat that broadcasts an elderly status with the saying, Authentic Vintage Dude.
- Fill a pretty jar with jelly beans or the recipient's favorite candy with a label that reads: ''Anti-Aging Pills, Take one a day to grow younger. In case of emergencies like yours, eat all at once!'' Once the candy is eaten, the jar can be used for something else.
