- Parts 2 and 3 of The Islamic Penal Code of Iran of 1991 implement the whipping of individuals who are engaged in sodomy, lesbianism or other sexual acts considered to be blasphemous or obscene by the Islamic Republic.
- According to Section 148 of this country's penal code, any man or woman who engages in anal sexual activity is given a death sentence if he or she is convicted on three counts of sodomy.
- Although this nation has not had a functioning government for more than the past two decades, the southern parts of the country impose Islamic Sharia laws that punish homosexuals with the death penalty or flogging. In addition, the semi-autonomous Somaliland region in the north applies Articles 409 and 410 of the penal code that was enforced before the other regions in Somalia collapsed in 1991. Article 409 states that any person who has intercourse with a person of the same sex shall be imprisoned for three months to three years if the sexual act is proven to be physical rather than emotional. Article 410 states that more protracted security measures shall be in place in lieu of Article 409, depending on the seriousness of the sexual offenses committed.
- Many regions in the north of the Federation of Nigeria have enforced their own Islamic Sharia edicts, which criminalize sexual acts committed between couples of the identical sex. The death penalty for homosexual men is the most severe punishment; lesbians are subject to lashes and/or life imprisonment.
- Article 308 of this West African nation's penal code obliges the death penalty by stoning for any adult Islamic men who engage in same-sex intercourse. On the other hand, the first paragraph of Article 306 of the country's penal code gives homosexual women a sentence of three months to two years in prison.
- The absolute monarchy of this Gulf Arab state has no penal code that outlines the punishments of homosexuals in the country. Rather, strict Islamic Sharia law is applied to all those who engage in sodomy, which is punishable by stoning for married men and women and the deportation or lashing of individuals if both sexes live outside of wedlock.
