Okay, you are here to find out how to reply on Twitter.
Some people will think this is totally obvious answer but is it? I was amazed to see that there is actually quite a few people out there that do not know this.
My plan is to explain to you how to use the reply function on Twitter and also explain another fact about it that some people may not know.
How does that sound? Basically when you use Twitter you have direct messages and Tweets.
This article is focused on Tweets.
For those that do not know, direct messages are not displayed in the main message flow.
They are stored for your eyes only.
When I refer to a Tweet I mean the flurry of messages that are displayed in your account from all of your active followers.
OK, the way that you reply is by using a special symbol.
It is the '@' sign.
When you use this sign followed by a user name it directs your tweet to that person.
You can do this in two ways.
1) Keying it in manually 2) Using the Reply link next to any tweet Here is the extra insight I promised, most people assume that your reply will be seen by everyone even if they are not directly one of your followers.
However that is not the case.
The only way that you can see replies from other people is if they are mutual friends.
Does that make sense? Let me give you an example: John replies to Kim, and Kim is being followed by Bob.
Bob will not see the reply.
The only way Bob will see the reply is if he is following John as well.
I know it is confusing at first but read it a few times to digest it and take in how to reply on Twitter!
