Vitamin C Overdose - Know the Reality!

Vitamin C or what is known as ascorbic acid, deals with lot of benefits.
Not only it provides power to fight with infection but also it helps in maintaining good health.
Vitamin intake is necessary for our health and among all the vitamins; Vitamin C is the referred to as the most important one.
Vitamin C overdose is not good for our health.
For adults the prescribed daily dose is 75 mg to 90 mg.
Many people are affected by Vitamin C overdose because of its anti oxidant properties.
Overdose of Vitamin C can result in several types of diseases like -
  • Diarrhea
  • Kidney stone
  • Nausea
  • Face flushing
  • Fatigue
  • Sleeping problems, etc.

Overdose amounts vary with individuals depending on factors such as age, genes and ratio of other essential elements of body.
The most common result of Vitamin C overdose is diarrhea.
Some other symptoms of overdose also include vomiting, face flushing, sleep disturbances and even headaches.
Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin and body does not intake water.
The excess Vitamin C is excreted by our body through urination and the symptoms are basically noted for their anti oxidant properties.

Some are even affected by kidney stones because Vitamin C helps in absorption of calcium and the extra calcium leads to the formation of kidney stones.
Breathing problem also arises because Vitamin C affects very badly on heart.
