3 Natural Remedies For Cold Sores

Cold sores are ugly, they're annoying and they're painful.
Cold sores are blisters that contain fluid and usually appear on the roof of the mouth, lips or gums.
They're contagious and caused by the herpes simplex virus.
Most cold sores clear up in a week to a week and a half.
So how do you treat and get rid of cold sores? Here are three natural remedies for cold sores you can use to treat your painful cold sores.
1.
Lysine
Lysine is an essential amino acid (amino acids are the building blocks of protein) that we must get from the food we eat.
The body can't produce lysine on its own.
Protein helps to produce infection-fighting antibodies, enzymes, hormones, and body tissues.
Lysine has been shown in studies to help slow the spread of the herpes simplex virus.
Lysine is found mainly in foods like red meat, milk, eggs, cheese, wheat germ, brewers yeast, and fish.
2.
Resveratrol
Resveratrol is naturally ocurring in red grapes.
Various studies have shown Resveratrol to be active in fighting the herpes simplex virus as well.
In fact, one study put together by Northeastern Ohio University showed that resveratol in a topical cream form, suppressed cold sores when used two, three or five times a day and applies one to six hours after infection with the herpes virus.
3.
Propolis
Propolis, which is also known as bee propolis, is brownish, resinous substance.
It comes from conifer and poplar buds and bees collect it to use as a cement for their hives to keep the hives germ-free.
One study showed propolis to work against the herpes simplex 1 virus, apparently by preventing the herpes virus from entering the cells of the body, thus blocking the spread of the virus.
You may want to consider these three natural remedies for cold sores so you can eliminate these nasty, painful sores as quickly as possible.
