Certified public accountants in Kansas have met the state requirements and passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination. Kansas is one state that does allow accountants to perform auditing duties without a CPA license, but the title of "certified public accountant" is restricted to only those who meet the requirements. - Kansas requires that applicants who take the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination meet educational requirements. To sit for the examination, applicants must have a bachelor's degree or higher with 150 credit hours and a focus in accounting. The Kansas Board of Accountancy requires examination applicants to have 42 hours of general education and business courses such as statistics, marketing, computer systems, management and an algebra or higher mathematics course. Requirements also include at least 30 semester hours of accounting theory courses such as financial accounting, auditing and income tax.
