Guide Review - In Principio - Avo Part
Part's In Principio features six works: In principio erat Verbum, La Sindone, Cecilia, vergine romana, Da Pacem Domine, Mein Weg, and Für Lennart in memoriam. In Principio, a five movement work for choir and large orchestra, makes a dramatic opening for the album. It's what originally caught my attention and sparked my interest. Another piece you'll find interesting is Da Pacem Domine. Similar to Barber's Agnus Dei, Da Pacem Domine for choir and orchestra features wonderfully somber melodies and lush harmonies. Its calming and reflective qualities will draw you into yourself, letting the music surround your inner being.
Mein Weg's almost cinematic sound is quite impressive. The instrumentation is unique and the rhythms propel you through the entire work. Für Lennart in memoriam was composed for the late Estonian president Lennart Georg Meri. The work is a peaceful dedication and a perfect ending to the album.
