How to Move House Efficiently

It is said that moving house is one of the most stressful experiences, and for some it can be a nightmare.
But if you start the process early and use some planning, you can reduce some of that stress and make the move go a lot smoother.
Here are a few tips to help you: Changing address Start writing a list as early as possible with all the companies that have you registered at your current address.
Make sure you call them all a week or two before you move to get your address changed.
Also use the post office's redirection system to ensure all your mail gets to your new place.
If you are moving to a different postcode area make sure you register you and your family with a new doctor, dentist and vet.
The removal van Make sure you book your removal van at least two weeks before the move and book it to arrive at a reasonable time.
If you are in a chain, make sure you let the other parties know what time you will be leaving and arriving to ensure synergy with the vans being loaded / unloaded.
Make sure there is adequate parking at the old and new homes and make sure the driver has clear directions on where to go.
Consider hiring a professional removal company if you want as minimum stress as possible.
Packing All of your belongings should go into boxes.
It may seem like a cliché but this really is the easiest way to move.
You can get some good quality cardboard or plastic packing boxes from your local packaging manufacturer or Storage Company.
If you have delicate items to pack you can use old newspaper or packing foam to keep them safe in the move.
Polyurethane foam can be very useful in creating layers and foam blocks to protect electronic equipment such as stereos, TVs, games consoles, etc.
Label your boxes as you pack so when you get to your new home you know where everything is going.
Pack a box of essentials so that when you get to your new house you have your phone charger, equipment to make a cup of tea and a packet of biscuits, some cutlery, crockery and washing up items and your toothbrushes and toothpaste all in one easy to find box.
On the Big Day Make sure you have planned which rooms your furniture is going in at your new home to minimise confusion and extra work.
Give yourself time to thoroughly clean the new place or get some professional cleaners in to do it for you.
Upon arrival, read the meters and check the phone, security alarm, electricity, gas, central heating and water work.
Check that everything that should be in the property is.
Let your solicitor know if anything is missing or has appeared unexpectedly.
By the end of moving day you and your family are going to be exhausted, so order a takeaway, open a bottle of champagne and congratulate yourself on a successful move! It is said that moving house is one of the most stressful experiences, and for some it can be a nightmare.
