Thor costumes, influenced all those years ago from a 1962 Marvel comic book, and who would have thought back then that these Thor comics would have become such valuable collectors magazines?
Thor, a super hero based on the legend taken from Norse mythology first appeared in print with "Journey into Mystery" published in comic form by Marvel Comics in 1962.
Thor is also a character who is on the fringe of the mighty Avengers team appearing in several comic volumes, Thor was in fact a founder member. When the mighty Odin is your father you're always handy to have in the team.
Thor comics are as popular today as they have ever been. Especially with the current movie, Thor which is doing very well in the money-making list. There are so many amazing characters to bring to the big screen.
Loki, who is the half-brother of Thor is on hand causing trouble and mayhem. Thor costumes will be flying off the rails this Halloween, but the God of Thunder's outfit is not the only one that the Halloween fancy dress fiends will want. As in all good stories there is a bit of glamour with the character Sif looking exceptionally beautiful in a startling costume. Lets not forget the baddies, and Loki fits the bill quite nicely if you prefer being the bad guy, rather than the super-hero.
During the years Thor has appeared in print, he has fought against many villains, to mention a few: The Wrecker, The Absorbing Man, Loki, The Destroyer and even the mighty Hulk had a spat with The Thunder God. Surtur the fire demon is another foe who comes back time and again, teaming up with Loki, you'd think they'd know better!
With fabulous costumes designed for the Thor movie coming from the work-shop of Alexandra Byre, he is surely a contender for collecting an award for his designs. The armour and helmet for Thor and the villains are created by Jose Fernandez, who has worked with Tim Burton before.
Donald Blake is one of Thor's more popular aliases who has the infamous Mjolnir, Thor's hammer, on hand when the going gets tough. A cleverly disguised stick with but one strike will turn Blake into the Thunder God.
There are many faces of Thor comics, every decade has their own heroes and villains, right up to these days. The story lines are absorbing, and from Iron Man to Dr Doom it's all nail-biting stuff.
