How to Convert a DVD to 1080p MPEG4

    Free DVD Ripper

    • 1). Download and install the free software from the Digiarty website (See Resources.) Run the software.

    • 2). Insert your source DVD and click "DVD Disc" to load the disc in the program. Click "DVD Path" to choose the folder where you want to save your MPEG-4 file.

    • 3). Click "to MP4" at the bottom of the screen. Click the "Output Profile" menu and drag the mouse to "Custom Size and Keep Aspect Ratio." Click and drag the mouse over the "Video Resolution" width amount, which is "720." Press "Backspace" on your keyboard to delete the amount, and type in "1920."

    • 4). Click "Start" to decrypt your DVD and encode the files in MPEG-4 format.

    Free Star Freeware DVD Ripper

    • 1). Download and install the DVD-ripping software from Free Star (See Resources.) Run the software.

    • 2). Insert the DVD you want to decrypt, and click "OpenDVD." In the main window, check the box next to each file you want to decrypt from the disc. Click the drop-down menu next to "Audio" and drag the mouse to "AC3."

    • 3). Click the "Profile" menu and drag the mouse to "MP4---wide screen." Click "Browse" to choose an output folder on your hard drive. Click "Rip" to create an HD MPEG-4 file from your DVD.

    DVD Video Soft Free Studio

    • 1). Download and install the disc-decrypting program and the video-converting program from DVD Video Soft (See Resources.) Run the DVD decrypter.

    • 2). Insert your source DVD, and click "Browse" to locate an output folder. Click "Save to PC" to rip the disc to your chosen folder.

    • 3). Run the Freemake file converter. Click "Video" to open a file browser on your hard drive. Double-click the folder containing your decrypted DVD files to load the folder into the converting software.

    • 4). Click "to MP4" at the bottom of the screen. Click the drop-down menu under "Preset" and drag the mouse to "Digital Media Players." This setting will provide 1080p resolution.

    • 5). Click the "Save to" button to choose your output folder. Double-click the folder, and click "Convert" to encode your video.
