The government of South Korea takes Korea health care very seriously and they have invested millions into health and the infrastructures involved with the intention of giving its citizens the benefits that a solid healthcare system can provide.
While they work hard to assure the citizens they will have adequate health insurance protection they also strive to erase the uncertainty caused by the financial crisis which occurred back in 1997.
In hopes of drawing the attention of the world wide pharmaceutical industry, there is much care and attention put toward the Korea health care issues and since the Act of National Health Insurance or NHI was put into place in 1999 the system has been fined tuned, working toward a good reliable healthcare system which will include many services which will be offered free of charge for all citizens of Korea.
Then while trying to further stabilize the South Korean health care system, they saw some temporary measures put into place in 2002.
An Act to stabilize the National Health Insurance financially was put into place and the Korean government made attempts to give its citizens many complete services that are healthcare related and will involve no cost to the citizens.
Korea health care is a vital consideration and one which is carefully planned out by the South Korean government in hopes of seeing all the citizenry be covered by the best insurance coverage possible.
A program called the Medical Aid Program or MAP offers social assistance but covers only about three percent of the population.
The newer system offers many more possibilities and opportunities for foreign medical companies in particular to offer their services through medications to the people at much lower cost, again to the benefit of the citizenry of South Korea.
With more competition among foreign medical distributors comes the possibility of lower cost to everyone who requires any form of medication.
Korean physicians originally resisted this program as they had gained financially by profiting off of the pharmaceuticals they prescribed to their patients.
Korea health care insists on an absolute separation between prescribing and dispensing of medical prescriptions and this is attractive to those companies who deal with pharmaceuticals and are involved with Korea health care.

North Korea has its own national medical related services along with a health insurance system being in place but some problems were involved, particularly with potable water.
The citizenry had access to plentiful supplies of water but much of it was not usable for sanitary reasons.
The North Korean people are provided with free medical treatment but often times medical care is not what it should be, depending upon the rank of the individual with state, party, and the military elite getting preferential treatment and much more expedient service.
