- Serial bullies may cause long-term damage to their victim as the bullying is generally continuous and repetitive. Serial bullies have a vindictive nature. They generally deny their wrongdoings and often answer questions from authority figures in a twisted way that makes them appear they are the victim. Serial bullies are more likely to continue this pattern into adulthood unless an adult is able to see through their lies and teach them new, appropriate ways to relate to other children.
- Serial bullies appear matter-of-fact and show little to no emotion while the victim appears to have minimal self-control as she breaks down emotionally. Serial bullies are able to control their victims through this method. Serial bullies are masters at twisting the facts and usually lie to get out of trouble. Serial bullies show their charming side and hide their deception very well. Victims often suffer unacknowledged, in silence, as it can take a long time for others to figure out these deceptive mind games.
- Often emotionally stunted, serial bullies may be emotionally neglected, have poor role models or are victims of abuse. Serial bullies acknowledge authority figures in a way that makes the authority think the bully understands his behavior is wrong. This acknowledgment also implies the bully is going to stop bullying. Due to lack of empathy for their victims, the bullying generally continues once the authority figure leaves the scene.
- Serial bullies get what they want from others by gaining and keeping control of them through intimidation. Serial bullies know how to charm those in power and are often able to turn a whole group against the victim. The group often fears the bully will turn on them so they go along with the bully's wrongdoings. The bully wields increased power over the group. The victim becomes further isolated and alone.
