- 1). Remove any debris that is inside of the garbage can.
- 2). Mix one part white vinegar to one part water. Wipe both the inside and outside of the plastic garbage can using a cloth or sponge saturated with the vinegar-water mixture.
- 3). Rinse out the inside of the plastic garbage can using a garden hose. Allow the garbage can to dry completely before continuing.
- 4). Remove all frayed plastic around the damaged area, cutting it off with a utility knife.
- 5). Sand the area with 40 grit sandpaper. Continue sanding until the damaged area has an inward slant.
- 6). Press the self-adhesive fiberglass tape inside the can over the damaged area.
- 7). Apply the epoxy on top of the tape and smooth with a paint scraper. Allow the epoxy to dry.
