- 1). Sign your car title over to Tucson's Interfaith Community Services. A towing company will contact you to set up a convenient pickup time once you have spoken with a representative from Interfaith Community Services. Make sure you inform the representative of the type of car you wish to donate and what shape the car is in. Once the car is sold, you will receive the IRS tax form 1098C listing the price the charity fetched for the car. You can contact Interfaith Community Services by emailing them at donations@charitableautoresources.com or by calling 877-537-5277.
- 2). Provide KXCI, Tucson's community radio station, with your basic contact information. All other vehicle information is optional. A Tucson towing company will then call you to make arrangements to pick up the car and its signed title. If your car sells for less than $500, you will receive a tax deductible receipt in the amount of $500. Cars that sell for more than $500 will list for the sale price of the car. To donate your car you can either call 877-KXCI-123 or fill out the online donation form (see Resources).
- 3). Give your car to the American Red Cross by donating it to the Southern Arizona chapter. The Southern Arizona chapter will tow your car for free from Tucson, which is where its headquarters is located. A signed title is required at the time of pickup. A receipt for tax purposes will be mailed to you after the car is sold at auction. To start the process, call 877-AZ-LIFE-5 or use the online donation form (see Resources).
