- 1). Touch the menu button on the Samsung U820 screen, which is the icon with four squares, and tap "VZ Navigator." Follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the program.
- 2). Turn on your location to use the GPS features of VZ Navigator. To turn on your location, tap the menu icon and choose "Settings & Tools," "Phone Settings" and "Location." Select "Location On" and press the left arrow to save the setting.
- 3). Create a route by tapping "VZ Navigator" on the U820 home screen and then tapping "Navigate." Tap "Destination" and choose your destination by tapping "Recents," "Favorites," "Contacts," "Airports" or "Current Location." Touch the destination of your trip. You can also type an address by tapping "Address," sliding open the phone to reveal the keyboard and typing the address. Touch "OK" when finished. VZ Navigator will create a map on screen showing you your traveling directions when you begin your trip.
- 4). Search for different points of interest, such as a gas station or restaurant, by using the "Find" feature. Touch "Find" to open the menu and choose "Places." Touch the subcategory from the "Places" menu, such as "Restaurants & Bars." Further subcategories will appear depending on your choice. For example, a list of restaurant types will appear if you choose "Restaurants & Bars." Continue through the subcategories until you reach a list of points of interest. Tap the destination and then the "OK" button to receive directions to the location.
- 5). Choose a detour if you encounter traffic delays for the route chosen by VZ Navigator. To choose a detour, touch "Menu" and then "Detour." Tap "Congestion" to receive directions around traffic congestion; "Distance" to receive directions at a fixed distance, such as 5 miles; "Road" to exclude a particular road; or "Entire Route" to create a new set of directions. A list of options will appear on the screen. Choose the option that best suits your need and tap "Done."
