Lava Rock Plant Care

    Watering

    • Water your lava rock plant by misting it two or three times a week and making sure that the leaves are moist. Always use non-chlorinated water and not tap water. You can also water it at the base, but depending on what it is planted in, it might not take in enough water that way. Mist the plant or submerge it in water to make sure that it gets enough water. In very dry climates, you might have to mist the plant more than three times a week.

    Sunlight

    • Lava rock plants like plenty of sunlight, but this doesn't need to be direct sunlight. Keep your lava rock plant in a place where it can get mostly indirect sunlight. It's OK for it to have direct sunlight in the morning, but it should be in the shade for the afternoon sun, which is brighter and stronger

    Indoor/Outdoor

    • You can grow your lava rock plant either indoors or outdoors, depending on your preference. It should not be somewhere that freezes, so if you live in a climate that freezes be sure to move the lava rock plant indoors when winter approaches. Don't allow it to frost, either. A great way to keep this plant outdoors is to shelter it under a canopy of trees or other plants that will allow some direct sunlight and a lot of safe shade. Be sure to give it plenty of water, but follow the water rules and don't use tap water. Always use non-chlorinated water.
