The Mizuno Wave Kaze 6 are well-constructed cross country running shoes designed for serious racing. Introduced in July 2010, the Kaze 6 is sold in both spike and flat/spikeless versions for both men and women. These shoes perform best on dirt, grass and rubber surfaces.
The Kaze 6 design was changed very little in 2010 because of the outstanding success of the earlier Kaze models. For example, the unique Parallel Wave plate feature has remained popular from year to year because it provides excellent traction, cushioning, and flexibility, which makes it ideal for cross country racing.
The Wave Kaze 6 has great ventilation which is provided by an open air mesh feature which keeps the shoe cool. Since 2009, the overlays have been repositioned to improve overall shoe support, which has resulted in a small increase in net weight. The final result is a pair of cross country shoes with terrific cushioning and a supportive upper, which provides the outstanding traction needed on a typical cross country course.
The solid rubber outsole on the Kaze 6 incorporates a six-spike configuration which allows the competitor to modify the shoe depending on race conditions. There are 12 quarter-inch pyramid spikes and a spike wrench included in the spike version.
