- 1). Cover work surface with a clean towel, and lay the guitar on its back on your work surface.
- 2). Place a thick book such as a telephone book under the neck of the guitar so the body lays flush with the work surface.
- 3). Tape off an area approximately 1 inch square around the guitar's existing end pin with masking tape.
- 4). File off the existing end pin from the guitar with a hobby saw.
- 5). Mark the center of the portion of the end pin still in the guitar with a center punch.
- 6). Drill a pilot hole into the punch mark with a power drill and 1/8-inch drill bit.
- 7). Widen the pilot hole with a power drill and spade bit. Use a spade bit the same diameter as your end pin jack. Shake out any debris from the body of the guitar.
- 8). Insert a length of wire approximately 2 feet long through the sound hole of the guitar and feed it through the drilled end pin hole. Keep the wire in place so one end sticks out of the sound hole and the other sticks out through the drilled end pin hole.
- 9). Tie the wire sticking out of the sound hole to the body of the end pin jack.
- 10
Pull the end of the wire sticking out through the drilled end pin hole, pulling the attached end pin jack body through the sound hole and into place on the inner side of the drilled end pin hole. - 11
Remove the wire from the end pin jack body. - 12
Slide the first washer onto the end pin jack and tighten the nut in place over the washer with a wrench. - 13
Screw the end cap into place over the end pin jack by hand.
