The fantastical play with music that won five Tony Awards at the 66th Annual Tony Awards will make the move to Off-Broadway March 18, 2013. Based on the best selling Disney-Hyperion novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, Peter and the Starcatcher is an audience favorite that deserves its New World Stages transfer.
Peter and the Starcatcher tells the story of an orphan who dreams of a faraway land full of adventure, excitement, and most importantly, love and friends.
With a dazzling array of costumes and special effects, this prequel to the legendary children's story of Peter Pan, the Lost Boys, and Neverland is truly magical.
With a cast of twelve on stage, the performers portray over a hundred characters to bring the show to life. Members of the Broadway production are making the move to Off-Broadway with this show, including, Rick Holmes, now in the role of "Black Stache" and Jason Ralph, who now plays "Boy." Reprising the roles they played on Broadway are Kevin Del Aguila as "Smee," Matt D’Amico as "Slank," and Evan Harrington as "Alf." Rounding out the cast ensemble are Nicole Lowrance as "Molly," Edward Baker-Duly as "Lord Aster," Josh Grisetti as Fighting Prawn," Alex Hernandez as Captain Scott," Nate Miller as "Ted," Andrew Mueller as "Prentiss," Jon Patrick Walker as "Mrs. Bumbrake," as well as Jordan Geiger, Joanna Howard, and Graham Stevens.
For the move to Off-Broadway, producers reassembled the Tony Award-winning production design team that led the Broadway show to win five Tonys, the most for any play for the 2011-2012 season.
Christian Borle of NBC's SMASH won Best Featured Actor in a Play. On the design side, Donyale Werle won the Tony for Best Scenic Design of a Play, Paloma Young won for Best Costume Design of a Play, Jeff Croiter won Best Lighting Design of a Play, Darron L West won the relatively new category, Best Sound Design of a Play.
