  A small gift for your wife, given for no particular occasion, is a romantic gesture. Even if the item is not particularly romantic or sexy in itself, the thought behind the gift is often far more valuable than the actual present. If it is something she mentioned in a casual conversation, the fact you paid attention to her desires is a gift in itself.
  
  

Home Improvement

• Gain inspiration from your wife's home improvement wish list when selecting a small gift. If she wants to plant some new flowers in your garden, buy her a flat of flowers and offer to plant them. Maybe she has asked about a new doorbell, shower head for her bathroom, new kitchen faucet or a shelf installed in her bedroom closet. Pick up the necessary items to get the job done, and make the item and installation your gift. If you are short on cash, look for a home improvement that she has been wanting that just requires your time.

• It is possible to pick up a digital key chain for less than $10. Yet, fill the key chain with your wife's favorite photographs -- such as pictures of your children, grandchildren, family members, pets or close friends -- and suddenly you have given her a priceless gift. This may require scanning photographs to convert them into a digital format, before uploading on the device.
  
  

Favorite Bathrobe and Slippers

• No one knows your wife as you do, such as what type of slippers or bathrobe she prefers. While anyone can buy her slippers and a bathrobe, there is a good chance they will not be the style she feels most comfortable wearing. You also have the advantage of knowing when hers are in dire need of replacing.
  
  

Her Cosmetics

• Pay attention to your wife's preferences in body washes and body lotions. Note the name of her favorite perfume. A simple gift of her body lotion or perfume makes a small but appreciated gift. Framed Snapshot

• If you come across a photograph of the two of you or a family snapshot with your children, surprise her by having the photograph framed. If you have a scanner, scan the image yourself, and reprint it on photo paper in the necessary size to fit in the frame. A great picture of your kids, pets or grandchildren will also make a welcomed framed gift.
