Fruit Factors

If you are looking at parts of your diet - fruits are - without a doubt - the most important foods in the makeup of the human diet.
Fruits present themselves in a most attractive package - our senses are immediately drawn to their colors, textures and fragrance.
Talk about 'fast foods' - fruits need very little preparation - they fit into our hands and mouths with ease - however, they are not a 'snack food' - they are foods of the highest quality and should occupy a dominant position in the diet.
They are composed of simple sugars which are easily digested and supply us with the fastest form of energy.
They can be eaten with ease by the very young, the elderly and those in poor health.
Fruits that have had their skins pierced, peeled or cut away will begin to oxidize and lose goodness - so what thou cutest - eat quickly.
Always wash fruits gently before eating (the raccoon knows this) in order to remove any surface contamination.
Some fruits have skins which contain mild poisons - if my tongue doesn't like the taste of a skin - that's it - no eat.
The following fruits have skins which should be avoided - melons, citrus fruits, loquats, papaws, custard apples, soursops, mangoes, mangosteens, pineapples, granadillas, passionfruit, monstera deliciosa, rhubarb and quince.
Our diet should consist of approximately 50% of natures most succulent foods.
Please Note: I do not advocate trying to live on succulent fruits only - they do not contain enough of the proteins needed for a balanced diet.
