- 1). Add the assorted oils, butter and distilled water to one of the 2-qt. glass bowls. These particular carrier oils are heavier in nature, which leave barriers on your skin. You can use a floral distillate instead of distilled water. Floral distillates, or hydrosols, are distilled waters with the fragrance and essence of botanical matter. These materials, with the other ingredients in this recipe, can be obtained from craft supply vendors.
- 2). Add the wax to the other 2-qt. glass bowl. Microwave each bowl separately for four minutes each. This assures that the contents of each bowl is hot. The wax must be melted into liquid and the water and oil solution must be hot.
- 3). Insert the beaters of the hand mixer into the water and oil solution. Turn the mixer on low.
- 4). Drizzle the melted wax into the water and oil solution slowly as you beat the contents. Increase the speed to high once the wax is poured into the bowl entirely. Beat the contents of the bowl for five continuous minutes. This makes a frothy and white mixture.
- 5). Pour the creamy mixture into the container you have chosen. A lotion bottle is suitable. Leave the top off and allow the lotion to cool to room temperature. It will thicken into a rich and velvety cream once it is cooled.
