- Once your DirecTV service is underway, you must agree to the terms and conditions of the Programming Agreement you have signed for at least 24 months. As of 2011, you will be charged $29.99 for each month of service. If you decide to cancel your service before the 24 months are up, you will be charged a cancellation fee. This fee can vary according to Directv.com, but can be as high as $480. You must pay your monthly due by the scheduled due date on your billing statement each month or you will face late fee charges.
- When you sign up for DirecTV, you will receive one receiver at no cost. However, if you wish to obtain more receivers, that will cost extra. You will get two receivers for $6 a month. Every receiver after that will cost you $6 a month. However, if you do not activate any receiver within 30 days of receiving it, you will be charged $150 per receiver. Once you cancel your DirectTV service -- or have it terminated -- you must return the receivers to DirecTV. If you do not, you will be charged between $45 and $250 per receiver.
- For an additional seven dollars a month, you can have a DVR receiver. A DVR receiver allows you to record your favorite shows and events to watch at a later time. You can also purchase a HD DVR receiver for the same price. Regardless of how many DVR receivers you obtain, you will only have to pay a flat rate of $7 a month. However, these DVR receivers must be returned once your DirecTV service is over, or late fees will apply.
- Once you have purchased a HD receiver, you can have access to any HD channel you want for an additional $10 a month. For another three dollars a month, you can purchase the whole room DVR service. This allows you to record one show in one room and watch it in another. You can deactivate any of these DVR services for $15. Once a service is deactivated, the equipment must be returned.
