Playing Now on Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon originally launched in 1977 as Pinwheel. The network changed its name in 1979. In the '90s, Nickelodeon began airing Nicktoons, a group of original animated TV cartoons that were edgy and different. Nicktoons were a hit with kids, but plenty of adults loved watching them, which helped boost their ratings and their cred in pop culture. Then, in 1999, Nickelodeon debuted what would become arguably the most popular kids' cartoon around the world -- SpongeBob SquarePants.

Here's a list of cartoons that are currently airing new episodes on Nickelodeon on a regular basis. Be sure to check Nick.com or TV Guide for correct show times and channels in your area.
