Bee Removal and Repair - A Necessity For Bee Infestations

If you have a bee hive in your roof, the walls of your home, or other parts of a structure, the best remedy is to have a bee removal company do what is known as repair and removal.
This will eliminate the bee hive and remove all honeycomb to reduce the risks that bees will return or that other pests will be attracted to the smell of the abandoned hive.
Removal and repair is an essential element of any successful bee removal project.
Keep reading to find out why.
Once a bee hive has been removed from a location - through either live removal or extermination - the threat of bees is far from done.
Leaving abandoned honeycomb behind inside the walls, roof, or other area of a home can allow problems to continue.
For months, even years, after the bees have been removed, other bees will smell the honeycomb and try to establish a hive there.
Also, common pests like ants, wax moths, rats, and other pests love to eat the honey and wax in abandoned honeycomb.
These pests are sure to come around looking for a snack if you leave abandoned honeycomb inside your structure after a bee removal job.
Depending on how long the bees have been working on their colony, there may be as much as 20 or 30 pounds of honeycomb buried deep inside the walls of your home.
The longer the bees have been there, the more honeycomb they have built.
Other Honeycomb Problems Besides attracting other bees and other pests, abandoned honeycomb left inside a sealed structure will begin to melt on warm days, causing honey and the honeycomb to drip down into your walls, ceiling, and other areas.
It can be very difficult to remove honeycomb damage from a structure and keep bees and other pests away in the future.
For these reasons, it is recommended to remove the honeycomb within five to 10 days after a bee hive has been treated and removed to prevent permanent damage from melting honeycomb and scavenging pests.
What is Removal and Repair? In a removal and repair, a technician will find the exact part of your house or other building where the honeycomb is located.
He may need to cut a hole in your walls or remove some roof tiles to pinpoint the location.
Once the honeycomb has been completely removed (a process that is also called a "honeycomb cut-out"), the area is thoroughly cleaned and the technician will re-paint to cover up the smell of the honeycomb and any pheromones that can attract other bees to the former honeycomb site.
