- These are the safest weed killers you can use, vinegar being the primary ingredient. Use a hose-end sprayer to apply; use 1 tbsp. per gallon of water, mix in 1 or 2 tsp. dish detergent and 1 tsp. of table salt. Be cautious with the salt; if you are using this weed killer in a flower bed, do not add the salt. If you are using it for your lawn, the salt will be fine.
