Making The Most Of Your Digital Images

We live in an increasingly digital world and the technology which surrounds us on a day to day basis is constantly evolving.
As a result, we are now able to do a whole range of things that we would previously have had to rely on professionals for.
One of those things is photography.
With the rise of digital photography, there has been a corresponding increase in the availability of apps and software packages designed to edit our images.
This allows anyone with a camera and a computer to do some photograph re-touching whenever they choose.
Flawless images are no longer the preserve of the glossy magazine, they are now making their way into the pages of our family scrapbooks and photo albums.
What Is Photo Re-Touching? In simple terms, photo re-touching is the act of editing an image focusing mainly on restoration and enhancing.
It involves highlighting specific details and improving them beyond the capabilities of the camera or the make-up! Re-touching allows us to improve the color tones and contrasts, eliminate blemishes and correct light exposure.
The process is often commonly referred to as 'photo-shopping' but while Photoshop is a common tool for re-touching there are also many other software packages, apps and online tools which can be used to the same effect.
Making Your Portraits Perfect One of the most common reasons for re-touching your digital photos is because you are creating a portrait style image, either of the family, the children, or perhaps for a professional head shot for work.
You will of course want such photos to look their best and so re-touching can be put to use in order to remove blemishes and to even out skin tones.
This is the same sort of re-touching you will see in magazines - even models are not that flawless! Adding A Splash Of Color Another common re-touching technique applied to digital photos is known as color splash.
This involves taking a black and white digital image - or desaturating a colored one - and then highlighting a particular element by adding a touch of color.
Some striking examples might be coloring only a person's eyes, or picking out their dress and shoes.
This is often a really common technique in wedding photography and it can give a really beautiful effect.
Now thanks to the wealth of re-touching tools available to us it is fairly easy to achieve without turning to a photographer.
