Go Green at Your College Or University

You're probably familiar with the saying "go green.
" People who live "green" do their part to help protect the environment.
Homes and offices in and throughout the nation have jumped on the green bandwagon and changed their wasteful ways.
Now it's time for college students to do the same.
Read below to learn simple but effective ways to live green on your college campus.
Take a Bus or Carpool to Class Depending on the size of your college's campus, you can drastically reduce your carbon footprint by riding a bike to class.
If you live too far off-campus, take the bus.
Don't Buy Water -- Bring your Own College students can save cash and help the environment by carrying their own refillable water container to class instead of purchasing a bottle of water at a store.
Most student stores sell sturdy water containers with the college's logo on the front, so that you can show school spirit too! Write in the Margins Although you were taught at a young age to stay inside of the margins, you'll use less paper and help the environment by breaking those rules and writing outside of the margins.
Using the whole page will result in less paper use and less clutter around your dorm room.
Better yet, carry a laptop to class and take notes paper-free! Avoid Unnecessary Waste In college, it's important to learn and become passionate about causes you feel are worthwhile.
One great way to do that is to lessen the amount of waste you produce and properly dispose of any and all waste in your sight.
College students can reuse paper; recycle bottles, cans, and appliances; and swap clothing, books, and other materials with fellow students.
If you just put your mind to it, you'll realize there are hundreds of ways to go green! Use Remanufactured Printer Ink College students use a lot of paper.
From class notes to research papers to newspapers to printouts, it can all quickly add up.
In addition to recycling used papers, college students can also go green by printing less altogether.
You can save a ton of paper by taking advantage of double-sided printing.
Another way to go green is to use remanufactured printer ink instead of store-bought ink.
Remanufactured ink cartridges have been recycled, emptied, and refilled with new ink.
These environmentally-friendly cartridges not only cost half the price of store-bought cartridges, but they also last just as long.
Say Goodbye to Incandescent Lighting In most colleges, library and dorm lighting is not as good as it could be.
Instead of studying under poor, yellowish lighting, raise the blinds of a nearby window.
Natural light is not only healthier, it's also more eco-friendly.
If it's nighttime and you require a light source, replace incandescent bulbs with CFLs.
CFLs use 75 percent less energy and last ten times longer.

By reducing waste and recycling all applicable goods, you can help to improve the quality of our land, air, and water.
