It seems like just yesterday that the UFC made their way back to Brazil for the first time in a long time. Nowadays, it's like Brazil is the new Las Vegas, the promotion goes there so often. Anyway, the event was headlined by a match up between Glover Teixeira, the new greatest thing ever, and former TUF champion Ryan Bader.

On top of it all were interesting fights between Yushin Okami and Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, and Joseph Benavidez and Jussier "Formiga" da Silva.

Teixeira vs. Bader Results

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida is one of the few fighters to possibly win a round over the current 205 pound champ, Jon Jones. Along with this, when he says something, it would seem to have meaning. And just this year, he told Fight Hub TV that he thought Glover Teixeira might just be the guy to give the champ a run for his money someday.

"I think Glover, he's great technique, he's a very strong guy.

He's training to fight and he can beat Jon Jones one day. He's good. He's difficult to take him down, he defends all the time and good cardio too. I think Glover can beat Jon Jones."

Did Machida's belief in Teixeira prove founded at UFC Fight Night 28 when Teixeira took on Ryan Bader? Or did the former TUF champ and outstanding wrestler show the world that Teixeira had a ways to go?

Get ready, get set, go!

Early on, Bader shot in and missed on a takedown. Teixeira came inside, leading Bader to attempt a guillotine choke to no avail after landing a few punches. Then Teixeira took Bader down, though it was only a momentary thing. The two came to their feet, where Bader began roughing his adversary up against the cage wall. Upon a separation, Bader began connecting with lefts from a distance. And then Teixeira came inside only to get hit hard by a short left hand that hurt him. Bader followed up with multiple right hands. Unfortunately for him, that left him open for a combination by Teixeira that dropped him (right-left).

Several strikes on the ground later and it was all over.

Glover Teixeira defeats Ryan Bader by TKO at 2:55 of round one. What a comeback!

Yushin Okami vs. Ronaldo Jacare Souza Results

Yushin Okami vs. Ronaldo Jacare Souza Results - Coming into their UFC Fight Night 28 match up, most fans agreed that this was an interesting bout. First, Okami holds a black belt in judo, while Souza holds black belts in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and judo. Next, Okami had never lost an MMA fight by submission. On the flip side, Souza had submitted opponents in 11 of his 18 victories. And finally, there was really no doubt that Okami hoped to make this an inside, clinch work style fight, while Souza wanted things wide open, or perhaps a ground fight.
Wondering who came through with the victory?

Then keep reading.

Early on, Jacare landed a solid body kick. Then came another. Then Souza hit home with a hard right hand. And right from there, he began landing left hand after left hand on his adversary, who found himself up against the cage wall. Okami persevered, however, and then was able to separate from his opponent. After a long, rather uneventful stage, Souza hit home with a couple of hard right hands and then a blistering one that dropped Okami. He then landed right after right on the Japanese fighter on the ground before the referee was forced to step in.

Very impressive victory.

Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza defeats Yushin Okami by TKO at 2:47 of round one.

Joseph Benavidez vs. Jussier "Formiga" da Silva Results - When asked prior to this bout if he would receive a title shot with a win over Joseph Benavidez, Jussier "Formiga" da Silva responded in the positive."I believe so. "But I try not to think too much about that. I rather focus on the fight itself. The preparation is perfect. I will fight him in every aspect of the fight, I will put my heart there.

He’s one of the toughest guys in this division. Winning this fight, I will leave that up to the UFC if I’m getting a shot to the title or not, but this possibility motivates me a lot."
The problem, of course, was Benavidez. Wondering who came home with a victory? Then check out our results here.

Both fighters were highly cautious early on until a quick exchange with their hands at around the 4:15 mark. Benavidez began to jump in and out of trouble, throwing relatively powerful shots, mostly grazing, as he went from there. Nice left hand by Formiga. But beyond that, it was basically a show where Benavidez continued to land grazing shots and then got out of the way before Formiga could hit back. Kind of uneventful.

That is until Benavidez landed a hard left-right combination that hurt his opponent. He followed that up with a devastating knee to the body that dropped Formiga, before ending things with consecutive right hands on the canvas.

Joseph Benavidez defeats Jussier "Formiga" da Silva by TKO at 3:07 of round one.
