- 1). Spray the bugs with water. A strong blast of water from your harden hose is usually enough to knock the beetles off the plants and onto the ground. Spray them on the ground to push them out of the garden.
- 2). Pick the beetles off your bean plant with tweezers. The beetles should be fairly easy to grasp because of their large size. Place the beetles inside a lidded container and relocate them to another area of your yard, or drop them into a bucket of soapy water to kill them. Place additional containers or your bucket under the plant when collecting, since beetles often fall from disturbed plants.
- 3). Place sticky traps on the soil around your bean plants. The beetles will become trapped in the sticky adhesive as they walk across the material. Discard the filled traps in the garbage can, and replace them until beetle collection stops.
